Day 6: Part 1

Day 6: Part 1
First thing that I saw this morning when I turned on the television was Bradley Wiggins winning the Men's Cycling Time Trials at Hampton Court.  So congratulations to him and Britain on their second Gold for the day and these Games.

In other news,  Wu Minxia of the Gold medal winning Chinese diving pair was just informed after she won gold of the death of both her grandparents in last three years as well as her mother's breast cancer.  Her parents said that they kept this information from her so that she would not be distracted from her diving career.  I mean, sheltering someone from bad news during the actual Olympics I could understand, but failing to inform her of these major life altering events for YEARS! That just seems terrible to me.

The Men's Beach Volleyball team is playing now at Horse Guard's Parade.

In another story of justified banning from the governing bodies of these Olympics, the Chinese pair, Two South Korean pairs and and Indonesian pair from the Badminton competition have been ejected from the tournament for purposely trying to throw their matches to achieve a more favorable draw.  Good! As I said before, this is the Olympics, and if you aren't going to try your very best every time you go to compete, then you don't deserve to be here.  It has created a logistical nightmare for the coordinators, but its their own fault for allowing it to happen.

Afghanistan's only female athlete, Tahmina Kohistani, talks about how hard it is for her to be a woman from her country trying to do sports. Afghanistan's Only Female Athlete

Ok, that's all I have for now.  Currently live, Men's All-Around in gymnastics, Men's Beach Volleyball, both on NBC, Table Tennis on mNBC
